The University of New Hampshire is pleased to welcome APICS Granite State chapter to tour the newly established John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center. The center is designed to help bridge the skills gap in the nation’s manufacturing industry, and serve as a home for academically derived technology incubators, with particular focus on high precision machining, light materials, flexible electronics and ‘Industry 4.0’.

The Olson Center introduces students to innovative manufacturing technologies and allows visualization of manufacturing concepts to complement the skills learned in traditional classroom settings. It will serve as a pipeline for trained, skilled workers who will be able to successfully step into the state’s manufacturing sector with practical knowledge and experience.

The presentation will cover the machining, robotics, and metal forming equipment available in the UNH John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center. In particular, the Manufacturing Automation Cell was created to demonstrate smart factory or Industry 4.0 concepts to benefit part quality, maintenance, and production scheduling.

The tour guides will be Prof. Brad Kinsey, Interim Director of the Olson Center, and Michael Locke, Manufacturing Engineer.
